In 2001, our friend Mike was putting together a Superdrag tribute album, and we picked "Sugar." When Todd came home from school for Mardi Gras in February, we played our second show, a house show somewhere on St. Charles Ave. (without Terrell, who was out of town) and then recorded this the next day in my garage. Allen had gone back to Baton Rouge for classes, so it was only me and Todd. He was the one who could actually play Superdrag songs, so we set up my Tascam 4-track, and he just played all of the instruments himself. When he got to the end, he didn't know the last four chords, so I figured that out and overdubbed it myself. But I think that's the only thing I played on here. I remember I was sick after being out at parades and tried to get Todd to just do the vocals too, but as always, he opted out, and I did them.
2. Touchdown (Eat a Bag of Dicks cover)
In spring 2002, Bryan Funck was trying to put together a comp where local New Orleans bands would cover each other's songs. His band Eat a Bag of Dicks was going to cover our "Pulling Strings," but we had no idea how we'd possibly do one of theirs. They had this fun song about the Saints called "Who Dat Rally," and they screamed "Touchdown!" a lot, so that seemed like the natural choice (although our version sounds nothing like the real song). Todd had just decided that he'd be moving to Nashville to join Wyatt in Second Saturday, so this is the last thing The Robinsons recorded with him, using his 8-track tape machine and his new Moog, which we also used a bunch on the Play 'Til 6 album that next summer. The sound clips were recorded on our way home from Starkville in 2001 after recording the Summer Fun EP.
