In 1999 I got together with some friends in November to record some Christmas songs. We had six songs total, and we passed out cassettes at Thanksgiving and some December shows. We continued the tradition off and on for the next decade, soon moving to CD-Rs. By 2010, we were all scattered, but we were mostly all doing some recording at home by that point. So we decided to bring it back as an annual thing, and we haven't missed a year since, now collecting files in a digital folder to mainly just share with each other.

In 2016, we posted a collection of the tracks from 2010-2015. Grab those for free and read more about the tradition here:

Seven years later, we're still going, we've added new friends to the mix, and some our kids have even begun to contribute to the music and artwork each year. There are no rules as far as genres, so we enjoy trying things we wouldn't normally do, and we often take the opportunity to collaborate with each other when we can.

Notes:

Track 1 - This is our re-imagining of (and tribute to) the New Orleans Christmas classic "Ain't Dere No More" by local legends Benny Grunch and the Bunch. We adjusted it to focus on our hometown of Chalmette. If you don't know the original, please find it, along with all of the group's Christmas songs.

Track 5 - While this song was later stolen by Vista Blue, this is Rusty's original version.
